Youth/Family Minister

Thanks for visiting us and taking the time to review our ministry opportunity here at Grace Street.

Grace Street church of Christ is a growing, vibrant body of believers in Crockett, Texas. Crockett, which is the fifth oldest town in Texas, is nestled in the beautiful piney woods of east Texas and has a population of approximately 7,000. It is centrally located in Houston County which has the distinction of being the oldest county in Texas. Houston County’s population is roughly 22,000. Crockett is the largest town in the county and serves as the county seat and center of commerce.

Our county has grown since the start of the pandemic. Many families have moved here to take advantage of the freedom we enjoyed during the pandemic. We did not miss a single worship service during that challenging time and have been blessed to see our post-pandemic worship attendance grow to larger numbers than before the pandemic. We now enjoy 180+ in attendance on most Sundays. Working from home has allowed families the freedom to live where they want instead of being forced to live in a large metropolitan area near their place of work. We believe this trend will continue and allow our congregation to experience continued growth.

Houston County has a large geographic footprint at just over 1200 square miles and our church includes family members from every corner of the county. The county offers many opportunities for outdoor recreation including hunting, fishing, and boating. Major industries include beef cattle/calf operations, timber and light manufacturing. Some of our major employers are Vulcraft Steel, Crockett Medical Center, 5 public school districts, the Houston County Electric Cooperative and several timber processing plants. Speaking of schools, Crockett will be home to the Piney Woods Christian Academy starting in the fall of 2023. This new school has 3 of our Grace Street family members on the 7 member board of directors.

We feel like our community will continue to grow as well as our church. Our 18 to 45 year old demographic are very engaged and are faithful attenders. Their zeal for the Lord from this age group has accelerated our recent growth through their inviting of friends and family to attend, fellowship, study God’s Word, and live it out in a practical manner. Grace Street is known throughout the county for its active and genuine young Christian couples. That demographic also includes many children. We will have 6 newborns in 2022 and one more in early 2023!

We are actively engaged in our community and have added two new outreach ministries in the last few years. Approximately 2 years ago we added a Spanish speaking ministry. Our Spanish speaking brothers and sisters have become an important part of the congregation and are growing spiritually as well as numerically.

More recently we added a Mothers Day Out program. The Mothers Day Out program began in the fall of 2022 and has approximately 20 children in attendance each Thursday. The program was the brainchild of one of the young families and has been shepherded along by our Missions Deacon. We view this program as a community outreach and already have two families who have chosen to be identified with our congregation as a result of the program.

The addition of the Mothers Day Out program and the recent growth in young families has caused us to rethink our education/fellowship space. We recently expanded our classroom space by 3 classrooms and updated our fellowship space. We will also be adding a dedicated space for our children’s church activities which will double as a group meeting space for our Mothers Day Out program. Next door to that space will be a space dedicated to our Spanish speaking ministry.

In the summer of 2021 we added a covered pavilion to our playground area for outdoor functions and just this year we added a new parking area in an effort to create a safer parking environment for our young families.

I know that is a lot of information, but we pray that God will lead us to a Godly family that will work with us here at our amazing Grace Street church of Christ. Take some time to review our website to get to know us better. If you need more information or want to send us your resume please send the email to office@gracestreetcoc.us

Thanks and God bless.
